Turn your experience into the kind of authority that pays.

What’s inside of you?

No, I don’t mean blood and bones. I’m not asking about the state of your liver or spleen and I’m not concerned with what’s going on in the glutamate receptors of your amygdala.

Nor am I speaking of your potential—what lies ahead, what you might accomplish someday in the future.

I’m talking about what’s in you RIGHT NOW: what you’ve already made and said and done and learned. The sum total of your experiences, the knowledge you’ve gained through years of hard work. It’s what makes you a leader. Collect it, package it, leverage it, and you’ll be an authority.

I’m talking about YOUR book.

If you’re thinking authorship is not for you—that it’s for literary types and word nerds—take a page from the book of entrepreneur and former business executive (now bestselling writer) Seth Godin:

Writing a book is a tremendous experience. It pays off intellectually. It clarifies your thinking. It builds credibility. It is a living engine of marketing and idea spreading, working every day to deliver your message with authority. You should write one. (source: Seth Godin’s blog)

The benefits of becoming an author are enormous.

Your Very Own “Living Engine”

Think of all the benefits your business brings your customers—you inspire them to be their best, you help them succeed, you make their lives easier, more efficient, or simply more fun.

Now imagine bringing these gifts to an even larger audience. A vastly larger audience. One that never stops growing.

Are you looking to book more speaking engagements?

When you add an author’s credentials to your name, you’ll be strategically positioned to present at more prestigious events and conferences. You’ll reach bigger audiences. You’ll get more attention.

Do you sell a product or service directly to consumers?

As an established authority in your field, you’ll command higher fees. As a thought leader in your industry, you’ll see increased sales. You’ll build awareness of your brand. Your credibility with potential buyers will grow each time your book is read.

Are you active in B2B marketing?

Having written a book will help you earn the trust of your industry peers. You’ll gain more referrals, and you’ll be able to build more—and stronger—partnerships.

Should you decide to offer it for direct sale, your book can also provide an ongoing stream of passive revenue.

Pathways to Authorship

Right now your book might be in any one of a number of stages.

Perhaps you’re just beginning to think about this project.

Your friends, your family, your colleagues—people have been listening to your stories for a long time. They’ve reminded you, over and over again, that your words are important. And you know that your years of experience can be distilled into an inspiring message. Its existence would be a gift to anyone just starting out in your industry.

Maybe you have a collection of blog posts. A rough bundle of notes scattered throughout several real and virtual files. Maybe you’re wrestling with the question of how to begin.

new-chapter
ghostwriting ghost

If that’s where you’re at, you need a ghostwriter. That’s me! I’ll meet you wherever you are, take whatever you’ve got, and transform it into a custom-crafted masterpiece.

I’ll consult with you. Together we’ll highlight the very best of your thinking, and I’ll generate a viable, usable outline for your full-length book.

Then I’ll write for you. Remaining faithful to your voice, I turn your vision into reality. From the materials you provide, supplemented with my own original research, I’ll create your manuscript. It’ll be carefully edited and accurately formatted for your chosen platform—whether that’s self-publishing, an independent or hybrid publisher, or a traditional publishing house.

The process is quick, simple, and collaborative. Though I’ll add my own expertise and creativity, all the ideas are yours, and the end result will sound like you.

The manuscript won’t be finalized until you’re completely satisfied. Two full revision cycles are included in the book creation process. But because the process is collaborative, revisions will be a snap! We agree on a schedule to get each section or chapter completed according to your timeline. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to review my work and suggest any changes. I won’t rest until your book meets with your approval.

At that point, it’ll be entirely ready for publication. I’ll deliver the manuscript direct to your publisher, or to you if that’s your preference.

the-end

Or maybe you are in the middle of your journey: your book has been drafted, but it’s not quite ready for prime time yet.

Then you need a developmental editor. I’ll ask critical questions, make comments, and suggest changes—both major and minor—to take your book from good to great. We’ll talk structure, organization, strategy, and tone. I’ll give you my best advice on language and help you understand and connect with your audience.

What happens next is up to you. You can implement the changes yourself, or I can take on that role, while you relax and await the delivery of your completed book manuscript.

Why Me?

smart reader

I’m not a proofreader, agent, publicist or publisher. But I am an expert writer. I’ve honed this expertise in a wide variety of industries, with diverse clients, and by writing on numerous topics in many subject areas.

When I earned my doctorate, I received the highest level of formal training in book authorship. I even wrote a book thingy (called a dissertation).

And I have extensive practical experience in digital publishing and marketing. Every day I help writers just like you translate their dreams into books. I specialize in nonfiction—including business leadership, entrepreneurship, stories of hard work, and inspirational memoirs of success.

I also have trustworthy contacts in the publishing industry. If you need a photographer or graphic designer to aid in the completion of your manuscript, I can connect you with a reputable professional.

I understand how overwhelming it can be to think about putting yourself out there in book form. You don’t need to go at it alone. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

With a PhD in your pocket, you’ve always got an expert by your side.
